1980 Venezia Ponte Academia 2
A very classic project....
but nevertheless organic.
Despite,
along alignments,
that it is only made of curves,
along alignments,
the project,
at its extremes,
touches the city,
as if it were a sort of body within it.
The project
gives a measure
to the three spaces it crosses
by giving each of them
a correlated measure
and a system of orientation.
The two squares
receive each
the opening of a groove.
One passes the ‘canale grande’
through an in-between
of convex curved lines
which narrow at the ridge
and open at both entrances.
The height of the bridge
is given by
by the height of the three pyramids
which mark the three essential points
which are all departures and arrivals.
*
The sketches show
that the project
the project could have been all lines,
of measured undulations
and openings,
without any enclosure.
That would have been enough ....
By this sequence
of pure measures,
a notion of infinite infinity
is nevertheless felt
in this project
which perhaps
takes on too much body
and thus perhaps
allows an image to emerge...
rather than the stay
in the inauguration of a structure

Aldo Rossi and Claudio d'Amato
met me at the Bienniale
where this project was exhibited.....
and they told me that they thought
that this was the project that should have been built....
